About Tausi

Understanding who we are and what we do

Tausi is a joint venture between New Forests Company (NFC) and Shell Nature Based Solutions (NBS). We work to combat deforestation and biodiversity loss by planting and restoring both commercial and natural forests in East Africa.

  • Backed by two global leaders: New Forests Company (NFC) and Shell Nature Based Solutions (NBS)
  • Integrates commercial forestry, carbon capture, and biodiversity restoration
  • Strong commitment to community development, livelihoods, safety, and environmental protection
Working with Communities

Partnering for inclusive growth and resilience

You need to register with an Outgrower Association at one of our local project sites.

The land and trees belong to the outgrower. Tausi provides seedlings and technical support but does not claim ownership.

If the trees are of good quality and properly maintained, Tausi may consider purchasing them based on market demand.

Yes, but Tausi recommends exploring other options first, such as VSLA loans or agroforestry to generate short-term income.

Tausi does not directly provide loans but partners with financial institutions and offers training to help farmers qualify for credit.

  • Supporting international and national commitments
  • Promoting environmental conservation
  • Potential future procurement of timber or poles

By verifying seedling care, training adherence, and compliance with project standards.

Tree Planting, Care & Markets

Guidance on species, growth, and market support

  • Eucalyptus: 8–12 years
  • Pine: 15–20 years
  • Indigenous species: species dependent e.g. avocado – faster growing for food and income diversification

Yes, Tausi keeps records and supports marketing efforts for quality trees that meet market requirements.

  • Fertilizer: DAP may be used once after planting eucalyptus
  • Pesticide: Imidacloprid is used for termite treatment
Community Engagement & Environmental Stewardship
